Orange lawmakers get final chance to pass resolutions |

Lest this get lost in the shuffle, it should be noted that Orange County legislators passed a heap of memorializations — statements of their sentiments on an issue — at this month’s meeting, their last before elections for all 21 Legislature seats.

Each sailed through without opposition, in some cases picking up herds of co-sponsors on their way to approval.

Here’s a summary:

One resolution, offered by Chris Eachus, D-New Windsor, added ammo to the Legislature’s two previous protests against the SAFE Act, the package of gun restrictions state lawmakers passed in January in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shootings. This latest salvo demanded the state reimburse counties for the cost of renewing pistol permits, an obligation critics say will be extremely onerous.
