Dems push to raise taxes on guns, ammo

Two House Democrats have introduced legislation that would increase the federal excise tax on guns and rifles, and would also raise taxes on ammunition.  The legislation, from Reps. Danny Davis, D-Ill., and Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., appears to be a reintroduction of plan they proposed in the last Congress. That bill would have roughly doubled the federal excise tax on guns and rifles to 20 percent, and would have imposed a 50 percent excise tax on ammunition.
