Rhode Island: Guns divide lawmakers

Guns-on-school grounds: The lawmakers who chose to respond to the Journal survey were almost evenly divided.As written, the legislation headed for another hearing on Tuesday would prohibit anyone — other than a law-enforcement officer (broadly defined as a “peace officer”) — from carrying a concealed weapon on public or private school grounds. The proposed ban drew impassioned testimony on both sides of the gun-control divide at a recent House hearing.
